Concrete Powder Waterproof
WP301
Powder Additive Based on Fatty Acids with Water-Repellent Properties
Concrete waterproof powder addresses the issues caused by voids, deficiencies in fillers, and fine aggregates in concrete, which result in the formation of empty spaces between aggregates. This leads to a reduction in permeability and a decrease in quality. Permeable concrete is weak against the penetration of water and harmful ions, ultimately resulting in lower durability and increased vulnerability. To fill the gaps between aggregates, using a water-proof powder additive is an ideal solution. The concrete waterproof powder is a fatty acid-based material that includes porous fillers and water-repellent substances. Upon reacting with the compounds resulting from cement hydration, it penetrates the pores and cavities, providing water and moisture repellency. One of the key criteria for assessing concrete stability is its impermeability. When concrete is mixed correctly with an optimal water-to-cement ratio and high-quality aggregates, its permeability is reduced. Adding a controlled amount of waterproof powder additive to the mix will create a denser, higher-quality concrete with significantly lower permeability. Furthermore, using this waterproofing powder helps seal the capillaries of the concrete, ensuring long-term water resistance.
The water-proof powder is formulated and produced specifically for waterproofing and is available in both liquid and powder forms. This powder-based waterproofing agent prevents the penetration of water, chemical solutions, and harmful agents into the concrete. It also enhances concrete density, further reducing permeability.
Mechanism of Action of Concrete Waterproof Powder
How does the waterproof powder work?
The waterproof powder additive is a micronized, water-repellent filler that easily disperses within the concrete mix. It fills all the voids between the aggregates, compensating for the lack of fine aggregates within the mix. Additionally, it closes the capillary channels formed due to the evaporation of water in the concrete, ultimately rendering the concrete impermeable and protecting it from water, harmful ions, and corrosive chemicals.
Properties and Effects of Concrete Waterproof Powder
What properties and effects does waterproof powder create?
- No negative effect on compressive strength.
- Prevents the penetration of harmful agents into the concrete.
- Closes all voids and pores caused by the lack of fine aggregates.
- Transfers the water-repellent properties of the waterproof powder filler to the concrete.
- Prevents the penetration of chemical solutions.
- Due to sealing the concrete’s capillaries, the structure remains waterproof over the long term.
- Prevents sulfate attack and alkalization.
- Creates impermeable and water-resistant concrete.
- Prevents the entry of corrosive ions and chemicals into the concrete matrix.
- Facilitates easy dispersion of particles within the concrete mix.
Applications of Concrete Waterproof Powder
What are the major applications of waterproof powder?
- Ideal for waterproofing tanks and swimming pools.
- Suitable for producing hydrophobic precast concrete components.
- Used for manufacturing durable, high-quality concrete.
- Suitable for concrete projects near the sea.
- Can be used for concrete in salt flats and areas exposed to harmful ions and sulfates, such as reservoirs, dams, and tunnels.
- Suitable for producing resistant concrete against chemical solution penetration.
- Ideal for the construction of foundations for marine docks.

Consumption Rate of Concrete Waterproof Powder
How much waterproof powder should be used?
The amount of waterproof powder depends on the thickness of the concrete.
- For concrete up to 15 cm thick, approximately 3% of the weight of cement used should be added.
- For concrete thicker than 15 cm, 1.5% to 2% of the weight of cement should be used.
Note: Using more than three times the recommended amount without a superplasticizer may reduce the concrete’s strength.
Method of Use of Concrete Waterproof Powder
How to properly use waterproof powder?
- The concrete waterproof powder can be added to the batching plant or truck mixer during concrete production.
- It can be added to the prepared concrete mix, and after thorough mixing, the concrete can be poured.
Note: It is recommended that the mixing process lasts at least 1 minute per cubic meter of concrete.
- The calculated amount of waterproof powder additive should be mixed with twice the volume of water used in the concrete mix and then diluted. The diluted additive should be gradually added to the concrete mix during mixing.
Safety of Concrete Waterproof Powder
What safety measures should be taken when using waterproof powder?
This material is not classified as hazardous or toxic to the environment or humans.
It can cause skin irritation on contact.
If it accidentally comes into contact with the skin or eyes, rinse with clean water.
Avoid eye contact and ingestion.
Storage of Concrete Waterproof Powder
How should waterproof powder be stored?
- The shelf life is one year in its original packaging.
- Store away from freezing temperatures, heat, and direct prolonged sunlight.
- The optimal storage temperature is between 10+ and 30+ degrees Celsius.
Packaging of Concrete Waterproof Powder
- 20 kg bag
