Side Fix Plastic Spacer

The Side Fix Plastic Spacer is a specialized single-clamp plastic spacer designed for side insertion of rebar. Unlike traditional spacers that require rebar to be placed from above, this spacer allows lateral installation. This feature is particularly useful when additional spacers need to be added after the rebar mesh is already in place, eliminating the need to lift or reposition the reinforcement structure.

Key Features

  • Point load capacity: Up to 200 kg
  • Compatible with rebar diameters from 12 to 25 mm
  • Side insertion mechanism allows easy installation without disturbing the reinforcement
  • Ensures proper concrete cover to prevent corrosion and enhance durability

Advantages of Using Side Fix Spacer

In some cases, after placing and securing the reinforcement mesh, it may become evident that the number of installed spacers is insufficient based on the load distribution and structural requirements. In such situations, Side Fix Spacers offer a practical solution, as they can be inserted from the side without lifting or modifying the mesh, saving both time and labor costs.

Installation of Side Fix Spacer

  1. Insert the rebar laterally into the locking clamp of the spacer.
  2. Ensure that the rebar sits firmly on the seating platform.
  3. The spacer maintains the required gap between the reinforcement and the formwork.

Consumption Rate

For medium-weight foundations and floors:

  • 4 spacers per square meter

For heavy and high-volume slabs:

  • 6 to 10 spacers per square meter, depending on load and reinforcement density

For beams and girders:

  • 3 spacers per meter (typically 2 spacers per row, spaced 60-70 cm apart)

Important Considerations

  • Designed for medium-weight structures, including beams, girders, and semi-heavy floors
  • For dense reinforcement or heavy structures, first calculate the total rebar weight per square meter and adjust the number of spacers accordingly
  • If the required number of Side Fix Spacers is too high, consider using Hard Fix Spacers instead for better cost-effectiveness
  • Recommended for rebar with a minimum diameter of 14 mm, as smaller diameters may not lock securely within the clamp
  • Avoid twisting or rotating the rebar during installation, as this may cause the spacer clamp to break
  • Not suitable for rebar sizes above 25 mm—use Hard Fix Spacers for larger diameters
