Minifix Spacer

The Minifix Spacer is a type of plastic rebar spacer designed to keep reinforcement bars in place in construction projects. It is lightweight, easy to install, and does not require complex equipment.

Application of Minifix Spacer

In many concrete sections, due to lower concrete thickness and reduced structural load requirements, smaller-diameter rebars (less than 12 mm) or thermal rebars are commonly used. Such applications include:

  • Steel deck ceilings
  • Concrete pouring for joist-block ceilings
  • Various floors and ceilings reinforced with lightweight rebar mesh
  • Precast concrete components

In these structures, the rebar mesh weight and applied loads are relatively low compared to other structural elements. The Minifix Spacer is an economical and effective solution to ensure proper concrete coverage for reinforcement in such cases.

This type of spacer can accommodate rebars ranging from 6 mm to 16 mm in its locking clamps. The most commonly used size for steel structures with rebars is 12 mm. The Minifix Spacer is designed to be lightweight and cost-effective while still being capable of withstanding a point load of 25 to 35 kg, depending on its height.

For typical lightweight structures, using 4 spacers per square meter is sufficient. However, for denser and heavier rebar meshes, the required number of spacers should be calculated based on the rebar weight per square meter and the Minifix Spacer’s load-bearing capacity.

Features of Minifix Spacer

  • Can withstand a point load of 25 to 35 kg
  • Holds rebars with diameters from 6 mm to 16 mm
  • No limitations regarding concrete thickness

How to Use Minifix Spacer

The Minifix Spacer has two serrated clamps designed to lock and secure the rebar in place. Once the rebar is placed between the clamps and rests on the spacer’s support, the clamps firmly lock it. The distance between the rebar seating and the bottom surface determines the concrete cover.

Consumption Rate of Minifix Spacer

  • For beams and lightweight girders: 4 spacers per meter of length (2 spacers per row, spaced 50 cm apart)
  • For lightweight ceilings: 4 spacers per square meter

Important Considerations for Minifix Spacer

The Minifix Spacer is primarily designed for horizontal surfaces with lightweight rebar meshes, such as ceilings. While it can accommodate rebars up to 18 mm, it may not be suitable for heavy reinforcement structures. Since it is designed to handle a maximum point load of 35 kg, if the rebar mesh is too dense or heavy, stronger spacers like Maxfix Spacer or Hardfix Spacer should be used.

If the calculated rebar weight per square meter exceeds the Minifix Spacer’s capacity, increasing the number of Minifix Spacers is not an efficient solution. Instead, it is better to use stronger spacers such as Maxfix Spacer, which has four times the load-bearing capacity and requires fewer spacers per square meter, making it a more cost-effective and time-saving choice.

It is recommended to use Minifix Spacers for rebars up to 14 mm in diameter. For thicker rebars, stronger horizontal spacers should be used.

Caution: Avoid inserting rebar into the plastic spacer with lateral twisting motions, as this may break the clamps.
