Concrete Super Plasticizer – Retarder (PL55)
Description
Concrete Super Plasticizer – Retarder is a liquid additive based on polynaphthalene sulfonate that improves concrete workability while significantly reducing the water-to-cement ratio. Additionally, it delays the initial setting time of concrete, effectively compensating for the negative effects of rapid setting in high temperatures. This product is particularly designed for mass concrete pouring and hot weather conditions, preventing segregation and bleeding. It can reduce water consumption by approximately 10-15%, optimizing concrete mixtures, reducing Portland cement usage, and contributing to cost savings and environmental benefits.
Mechanism of Action
Upon mixing with water and cement, the molecules of this super plasticizer form a charged layer around cement particles, causing them to repel each other and enhancing fluidity. Furthermore, naphthalene sulfonate inhibits the dissolution of ions such as aluminates, which have the highest solubility rate during the hydration process. Special retardation agents included in the formulation help control the setting time.

Dosage & Usage
- The recommended dosage ranges from 1% to 1.5% of the cement weight.
- The precise dosage should be determined through laboratory trials, considering environmental conditions and aggregate types.
- Overdosing may cause excessive retardation, potentially weakening the concrete.
- The additive should be pre-diluted with twice its volume of water before adding it to the concrete mix.
- It can be added to the batching system or directly into the truck mixer.
- Avoid direct contact with dry cement.
Storage & Shelf Life
- Shelf Life: 12 months in original packaging.
- Storage Conditions: Store in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme heat, and frost.
- Optimal Storage Temperature: +10°C to +30°C.
