How to Use the HEXARC X4040 Paving Mold

One of the most important factors when paving with the HEXARC X4040 mold is the physical condition of the cement mortar. It is recommended that the cement mix should have a minimum strength of 300, with a preferred strength of 350. Additionally, the mix should have a slump of 4 to 6 for optimal performance. If the mix has a higher slump, the working time and mold removal time will increase.

Before setting the molds and pouring the mortar, it is advisable to lubricate the molds with suitable oil or diesel. Once the molds are arranged, wet them with fresh water to prevent the cement from absorbing moisture before setting.

Pour the mortar into the mold’s cells using a trowel and then level the surface. If you wish to use multiple colors in the cells, smaller trowels can be used for greater precision. After filling all the cells, gently tap the surface to help the mortar settle and become denser. Allow the mortar to set for 2-3 hours, depending on weather conditions, before removing the molds.

After removing the molds, it is essential to cure the paved surface for at least 3 days by spraying it with water. After 24-48 hours, you can walk on the surface, and after 7 days, it will be ready for heavy traffic, including vehicles.

Number of HEXARC X4040 Molds Needed for Paving

The number of molds needed depends on the size of the area to be paved and the available time. The more molds used, the faster the process will be, and it may provide more time for the mortar to set. It is recommended to use at least two molds for smaller areas, and the number may increase to 10 or more for larger areas.
