Powder Concrete Fast Hardener

Powder Additive for Accelerating Hydration Rate
Suitable for Cast-in-place and Precast Concrete
What is Powder Concrete Fast Hardener?
Powder Concrete Fast Hardener is an additive, also known as an early strength accelerator, added to the concrete mix to accelerate the initial and final setting time of concrete, achieving early compressive strength. This additive facilitates the dissolution of lime-aluminate in the mixing water, speeding up the hydration process of silicates, thus allowing the setting and hardening process to be completed more quickly. It is suitable for use in reinforced and non-reinforced concretes, mortars, and ready-to-use cement-based grouts for rapid setting. Additionally, this product is ideal for concrete placement in cold weather conditions.
Generally, this powder additive accelerates the setting time of concrete. It is often used in cold weather or when a faster completion time is required. In summary, this additive modifies the specific properties of concrete, enhancing its performance for various construction projects.
Mechanism of Action of Powder Concrete Fast Hardener
The effectiveness of the powder fast hardener depends on various factors such as consumption rate, mixing components, ambient temperature, concrete temperature, cement type, water-to-cement ratio, and curing conditions.
As evident, when cement reacts with water, it begins the hydration process, leading to the hardening and development of resistance. This process starts with the dissolution of cement in water, followed by the dormant phase and the formation of C-S-H gel, eventually leading to complete setting. After this, hydration products form, and the concrete hardens. The powder fast hardener shortens this process, speeding up the setting time.
It should be noted that the powder accelerator works most effectively when the C3A to SO3 ratio is greater than 4.

Consumption Rate of Powder Concrete Fast Hardener
The amount of powder concrete fast hardener used depends on factors like ambient temperature, required setting time, and specific project requirements. Typically, it is used at 1 to 3% of the cement weight.
Note: The precise amount of powder fast hardener should be determined by conducting specific onsite trials, considering factors such as cement type, water-to-cement ratio, and environmental conditions.
Application Method of Powder Concrete Fast Hardener
- The calculated amount of powder fast hardener should be diluted with twice the volume of water in the concrete mix. After dilution, the solution should be added gradually to the mixing concrete.
- The fast hardener can be added directly to the prepared concrete mix, and after thorough mixing, the concrete can be placed.
Note: It is recommended to mix for at least one minute per cubic meter of concrete.
- The powder fast hardener can be added to dry mix components before water is introduced.
Safety Measures for Powder Concrete Fast Hardener
- In case of skin or eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water.
- If accidentally ingested, seek medical attention immediately.
- Protective gloves and a mask should be worn when handling the product.
- The material is not flammable and is not classified as hazardous to health or the environment.
