Description of Proofab Epoxy Stone Adhesive

Proofab Epoxy Stone Adhesive is widely used in building facades and is increasingly used for bonding slab stones, which play a significant role in both interior and exterior wall cladding. These stones come in a variety of designs and colors, contributing greatly to the aesthetic enhancement of spaces.

Historically, old methods like dry mortar or traditional mortars were used for installing tiles, ceramics, and facade stones, which did not provide optimal performance and often led to stone detachment from horizontal surfaces. To address these issues, materials such as scoops, wire, and screws were used, but they resulted in high costs and did not always provide satisfactory results.

To overcome these challenges, Proofab Epoxy Stone Adhesive, a powerful epoxy-based product formulated with nanotechnology, has been developed. When mixed in a 1:1 ratio, it can bond various types of slab stones and building stones without the need for screws or anchors. It also allows for the installation of different building materials with high bonding strength.

A significant advantage of Proofab Epoxy Stone Adhesive is that only 10% of the stone’s back surface needs to be coated with the adhesive to create a strong bond. This method is also advantageous for reducing the building’s weight. Another unique feature is that this adhesive allows direct bonding of stones onto metal surfaces. In this installation method, the stone’s weight rests on the stone itself, unlike other methods (such as scoop or screw systems), where the weight is carried by the anchoring system, and if detached, the stone may fall. Additionally, this adhesive is used for repairing and reinforcing various types of construction stones. The bond created by this product is highly durable, lasting for the entire life of the structure.

Mechanism of Action

Proofab Epoxy Stone Adhesive forms a molecular bond with the substrate, ensuring a connection that lasts for the lifespan of the structure.

Properties and Effects

  • No need for groove cutting or thinning stone surfaces for installation.
  • No need for metal reinforcement or a metallic substrate for stone installation.
  • Can correct surface irregularities due to the high elasticity of the adhesive.
  • Withstands thermal shock up to 125°C.
  • Creates a durable bond equal to the lifespan of the structure.
  • Resistant to detachment due to structural vibrations or seismic activity.
  • Excellent durability against freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Easy-to-mix formula, with a 1:1 ratio of resin and hardener.
  • No need for wire, scoop, screws, or anchors during installation.
  • High-speed application with significant cost reduction.
  • Helps reduce building weight due to lower adhesive volume requirements compared to other methods.
  • Creates a molecular connection between the stone and substrate.
  • Provides at least 50% time savings during installation compared to traditional methods.

Applications

  • Can be used for bonding stones in humid environments.
  • Suitable for bonding various building stones, including granite, travertine, porcelain tiles, artificial stones, etc., on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Allows direct bonding of stone to metal surfaces.
  • Ideal for installing stones without the need for scoops, wire, screws, or anchors.
  • Perfect for bonding slab stones on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Useful for repairing and bonding concrete, cement, and stone pipes and tanks.

Consumption Rate The amount of Proofab Epoxy Stone Adhesive used depends on the weight of the stone and the orientation of the surface to be applied.

Application Method

Step 1: Surface Preparation Ensure the surface to be bonded is free of contamination, including grease, dust, or moisture. The surface should be completely dry. The stone, tile, or object to be bonded should be prepared so that its back surface is clean and smooth, allowing the adhesive to create a strong bond.

If necessary, dust the back of the stone with a wire brush, and if any residue remains, clean it off with a damp sponge. Finally, dry the surface completely with a cloth.

Step 2: Mixing the Epoxy Stone Adhesive Before mixing, allow the two components to sit at room temperature for 24 hours. Mix the two components in a 1:1 ratio (by volume), and continue mixing for approximately two minutes using a spatula until a uniform paste is formed.

Important Note: The 1:1 ratio of Part A and Part B is critical to achieving the desired physical properties. Any deviation from this ratio will result in suboptimal performance.

Step 3: Application Method Proofab Epoxy Stone Adhesive can be applied using either a patch method or a full-layer method on the back of the tiles.

Patch Method for Small Stones (100×100 cm or smaller) For small stones (up to 100×100 cm), apply the adhesive using a patch pattern on the back of the stone. Ensure that at least 10% of the stone’s surface is covered with adhesive. The patch size should directly correspond to the stone’s dimensions, as shown in the table below:

Stone Dimensions (cm) Patch Diameter (cm)
30×30 5
40×40 6
50×50 8
60×60 10
80×80 15
100×100 17

For square tiles, the patch pattern is applied as shown below:

For rectangular tiles, the patch pattern is applied as shown below:

Full-Layer Method In this method, the adhesive is applied evenly across the back of the stone, with a thickness of 3-6 mm for smaller stones and 6-12 mm for larger stones or slabs. The thickness may vary for angled or vertical surfaces.

In the full-layer method, the adhesive should cover at least 10% of the back surface of the stone. The amount of adhesive required is calculated based on the stone’s angle as shown in the table.

For stone installation on block or clay surfaces, a plaster layer of 2 cm thickness made from a sand-cement mix with a bonding agent should be applied as a base for the adhesive.
