PVC Pipe Spacer (PVC)
What is a PVC Pipe Spacer?
A PVC Pipe Spacer is used in telecommunications cable installation, particularly for organizing and maintaining precise spacing between pipes or ducts. These pipes, typically with diameters of 4 or 6 inches, are laid over long distances, sometimes extending for kilometers. To ensure proper distance and stability when multiple pipes are used in parallel, a PVC Pipe Spacer is employed. The spacer helps maintain a uniform and accurate distance between the pipes, providing both stability and preventing misalignment.
The spacer consists of two parts: a base and a cover. These components work together to keep the ducts, such as those used in telecommunications, aligned. The spacer is designed to allow for both vertical and horizontal alignment of pipes, ensuring a consistent gap between them. This consistent spacing aids in the uniform filling of gaps between pipes with either soil or grout, thereby increasing resistance to external forces and improving the overall strength of the installation.
The PVC Pipe Spacer is essential in various industries, particularly in urban telecommunications, refinery projects, and petrochemical industries. It’s also widely used in the installation of UPVC cable pipes, providing an easy and flexible solution for maintaining proper spacing.
How to Use a PVC Pipe Spacer
To use the PVC Pipe Spacer correctly, follow these steps:
- Vertical Expansion:
Begin by placing the base spacer on the surface, ensuring the proper distance between them. Next, position the pipes on top of the base spacers. Once the pipes are in place, attach the cover spacer to the base spacer, locking them in position. - Side Expansion (if required):
If the pipes need to be expanded laterally (side to side), you can use the sliding components on both sides of the base and cover spacers. These sliding parts, designed in male and female configurations, will allow the spacers to connect, thereby expanding the installation horizontally. - Repeat the above steps as needed for the required number of pipes.
- For the last row of pipes, place a base spacer in reverse to ensure stability.
Amount of PVC Pipe Spacer Usage
- For buried PVC pipes without concrete pouring, 1 spacer per 2 meters of pipe length is recommended.
- For buried PVC pipes with concrete pouring, 1 spacer per 1.5 meters of pipe length is recommended.
Important Notes
- Avoid not using a PVC Pipe Spacer, as it may lead to inaccurate spacing between the pipes, causing them to come into contact with each other during concrete pouring, which could result in breakage or significant damage to the project.
- PVC Pipe Spacers are specifically designed for use with PVC pipes and are not suitable for metal pipes. If they are to be used with metal pipes in special cases, they should be stacked vertically with a very reduced spacing between the spacers.
