Description

Super Microsilica Gel is an advanced enhanced additive based on polycarboxylate ether, composed of microsilica powder, a high-range water reducer, water-repellent agents, and polypropylene fibers. It is designed for producing durable, impermeable, and high-performance concrete. As a super pozzolan, this additive significantly improves the durability, strength, and rheological properties of concrete, both in its fresh and hardened states. It enhances the density and cohesion of concrete by filling voids between aggregates, reducing permeability, and extending workability.

This advanced additive is ideal for producing non-permeable concrete, concrete exposed to freeze-thaw cycles, and concrete structures in aggressive chemical environments.

Mechanism of Action

The silica fume in Super Microsilica Gel acts as a powerful pozzolanic material, effectively replacing a portion of cement. When combined with water and calcium hydroxide, it undergoes a reaction forming calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H), which contributes to concrete strength and durability.

Additionally, the polycarboxylate ether in the formulation acts as a high-performance plasticizer by forming a protective layer around cement particles, preventing their aggregation and promoting dispersion through electrostatic repulsion. This enhances workability and fluidity without additional water. The polypropylene fibers further enhance the mechanical and abrasion resistance properties of concrete.

Dosage

The optimum dosage should be determined through laboratory testing based on environmental conditions and material properties. However, a general guideline is 5-7% of the cement weight. To achieve maximum compressive strength and high-performance concrete, it is recommended to reduce the mix water content by 10-15% before adding the gel.

The dosage also influences the setting time, which should be adjusted based on project requirements and ambient temperature conditions.

Usage Instructions

Super Microsilica Gel can be added in two ways:

  1. Pre-mixing: Blend the additive with part or all of the mixing water before adding it to the dry materials.
  2. Post-mixing: Add the gel after incorporating all concrete components into the mix.

Notes:

  • A minimum of 1-minute mixing per cubic meter of concrete is required.
  • If there is a long time gap between batching and placement, it is recommended to split the gel dosage: add part of it at the batching plant and the remainder 5 minutes before pouring. Mix for an additional 2-4 minutes after the final addition.

  • In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
  • Use protective gear such as gloves, masks, and safety goggles while handling the product.

  • Shelf life: 12 months in original sealed packaging.
  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from freezing, excessive heat, and direct sunlight.
  • Recommended storage temperature: +10°C to +30°C.
