What is a Travers Rollplack?
A Travers Rollplack is a plastic plug used to secure railway rails onto concrete ties (known as travers) by means of specialized screws. The plug is made from reinforced polyethylene and is designed for use in the railway industry to maintain the stability and secure placement of rails on the railway track bed.

As urban and intercity train lines expand, the need to build and extend railway lines grows. The rails are mounted on components known as traverses, which serve the purpose of supporting and securing the railway tracks. Historically, traverses were made from wood or metal, but nowadays, over 95% of the railway lines in many countries use reinforced concrete traverses. These traverses are an essential component of the railway track structure, providing support for the rails and distributing the loads applied to the ballast, transferring the weight from the rails to the ballast beneath.

How to Use the Travers Rollplack

During the production of concrete traverses, the spot where the rail will be installed is pre-designed, and a hole is created for the Travers Rollplack. The plastic rollplack is placed in the pre-installed hole in the concrete traverse. Once the track bed is prepared and the concrete traverses are placed with specific spacing, the rails are positioned onto the traverses. The rails are then secured to the traverses using special screws, which fit into the rollplack and tighten the connection.

Amount of Use

For each concrete traverse, between 4 to 8 pieces of Travers Rollplack and corresponding screws are used to secure the rail to the traverse.

Important Notes

• The ideal placement of the Travers Rollplack is during the factory production of the concrete traverse.
• If it is necessary to add a screw and rollplack after production, a hole should be drilled into the traverse, and the rollplack should be coated with a special adhesive before installation.
