Wheel Fix Plastic Spacer

The Wheel Fix Spacer (also known as circular spacer or sun spacer) is a plastic rebar spacer designed to ensure accurate concrete cover in vertical structures, such as walls, columns, and circular sections.

Importance of Proper Concrete Cover in Vertical Elements

In reinforced concrete walls and columns, improper rebar placement can lead to insufficient concrete cover, causing exposure and corrosion of rebars. Over time, environmental factors such as chloride ions, sulfates, and acids can penetrate the concrete, leading to expansion of corroded rebars and structural damage.

The Wheel Fix Spacer prevents such issues by maintaining a uniform distance between rebars and formwork, ensuring proper concrete coverage and enhancing durability.

Applications of Wheel Fix Spacer

Vertical surfaces (walls, columns, circular sections)

Precast and in-situ concrete structures

Projects requiring high-quality concrete finishing

Designed in compliance with BSI 7973 standards, Wheel Fix Spacers are engineered to allow unobstructed concrete flow, preventing voids or weak points in the structure. The strong central lock secures the rebar, while the outer spokes prevent vibration displacement during concrete pouring.

Features of Wheel Fix Spacer

Optimized for vertical concrete placement
Ensures uniform concrete cover
Prevents obstruction of concrete flow
Resists vibration and displacement during pouring

Installation of Wheel Fix Spacer

Typically installed vertically on stirrups (links)

In special structural conditions, can be attached directly to main rebars

Consumption Rate of Wheel Fix Spacer

For walls and standard vertical elements:

  • 3 spacers per square meter per side

For heavy-duty formwork (e.g., tunnel formwork):

  • 4 to 6 spacers per square meter per side

For columns (up to 50×50 cm cross-section, 3m height):

  • 16 spacers per column (2 per stirrup, placed every 1.5m)
  • For larger columns, up to 48 spacers per column may be required

Important Considerations

If stirrups are placed outside the rebar cage, maintain 75 cm spacing between spacers.
If stirrups are within the rebar cage, attach the Wheel Fix Spacer directly to vertical rebars.
Not suitable for horizontal applications – designed exclusively for vertical structures.
