The double-conical sleeve is an inexpensive and efficient component that allows bolts to easily pass through it. After the concrete has set and the formwork is removed, the bolts can be extracted from the concrete without any damage. Another advantage of using the bolt cover or double-conical sleeve is that it prevents the concrete slurry from leaking out through the hole in the formwork. It is important to note that the use of plastic bolt covers is suitable only for walls where the primary concern is covering the bolt and sealing the hole left after formwork removal is not required.

In concrete formwork, the use of bolts and anchoring equipment is essential. If the formwork is not properly secured with bolts, nuts, washers, and other components, the hydrostatic pressure from the concrete during pouring could cause the formwork to collapse, leading to significant damage to the structure. Therefore, the presence of bolts is necessary in formwork. If a bolt is placed inside the formwork without any cover, removing the bolt from the concrete after pouring becomes a difficult and time-consuming task. In most cases, part of the bolt is left embedded in the concrete, and the protruding part is cut off with an angle grinder. This is an incorrect approach as it creates a pathway for corrosion to penetrate the concrete. To solve this issue, the double-conical plastic sleeve, also known as the bolt passage cover, was designed and manufactured.

In general, this component is crucial in concrete formwork as it helps secure the formwork against the pressure of the concrete. The product is an affordable and highly efficient part that allows bolts to pass through it easily. It effectively prevents concrete slurry from leaking through the hole in the formwork.

How to Use the Double Conical Plastic Sleeve

1. After the rebar mesh for the wall is placed and one side of the formwork is secured, the bolt is inserted from the completed side of the formwork, and the plastic bolt cover (double-conical sleeve) is placed over the bolt.
2. After the double-conical sleeve is in place, the other side of the formwork is closed, and the necessary struts, nuts, and washers are used to secure the formwork.
3. Once the concrete has set and the formwork is removed, the bolts can be easily extracted, and the conical end of the double-conical sleeve is removed using pliers. The remaining hole can then be filled with cement mortar or grout.

Consumption Rate of the Double Conical Plastic Sleeve

For every square meter of the wall, two bolts are generally needed, and thus two plastic bolt covers (double-conical sleeves) are required. In general, the number of bolt covers corresponds to the number of bolts used in the formwork structure.

Important Notes about the Double Conical Plastic Sleeve

• One of the benefits of using the double-conical sleeve is that it helps set the exact distance between the formwork panels.
• Not using the bolt cover results in the leakage of concrete slurry, creating weak spots in the concrete.
• The use of a plastic bolt cover prevents the metal bolt from coming into direct contact with the concrete, increasing its longevity and allowing for multiple uses.
• If the goal is to seal the hole left by the bolt, the plastic waterproof middle bolt sleeve should be used.
• In certain conditions, the double-conical sleeve can also serve as a waterproof middle bolt sleeve. By removing the cones from both sides of the wall, 2 or 3 edge-less stoppers can be inserted into the sleeve to block the infiltration path, and the remaining space can be filled with waterproof grout (grout + waterproof adhesive).
