Colored Powder for Fresh Concrete

Increases Concrete Surface Hardness

The abrasion-resistant powder is a cement-based powder applied manually onto freshly placed concrete, resulting in the creation of a wear-resistant surface that becomes completely smooth and even after application. This product is used in areas such as garages, factories, parking lots, and other areas requiring durable, abrasion-resistant floors. Additionally, it enhances resistance to impact and liquid penetration.

Implementing abrasion-resistant concrete and flooring for high-traffic areas exposed to heavy forces has always posed challenges for contractors. This is especially true in warehouses and industrial factories where high and heavy traffic, such as forklifts and trucks, is common. Hardened concrete often faces issues such as permeability, low abrasion resistance, and poor impact resistance, which can lead to significant problems in flooring. Concrete floors exposed to high loads, if not properly planned during construction and application, will inevitably suffer from surface and deep cracks over time. Repairing these damages after operation incurs heavy costs. To address this issue, a powerful product called the floor hardener powder has been developed and introduced to the market. When applied to freshly poured concrete using the dry-shake method, the powder is spread across the surface using a power trowel, increasing compressive strength, abrasion resistance, and reducing permeability, thus improving many properties of the floor concrete. The powder consists of Portland cement, industrial hard granules, and special additives, providing a smooth, uniform, and polished surface with high mechanical properties. It strengthens the bond on the concrete surface and provides exceptional adhesion to the underlying layer. The floor hardener powder is available in various colors, offering the dual benefit of hardening and abrasion resistance while also providing a decorative, colorful surface. This makes it highly suitable for industrial factories, especially where floors are subject to frequent heavy traffic. It also offers excellent adhesion and seamless integration with freshly laid concrete.

Mechanism of Action of Concrete Hardener Powder

The abrasion-resistant floor mortar is formulated and produced from cement, aggregates with specific particle sizes, industrial hardening granules, and special chemical additives. Once applied to the surface, it hardens completely, creating a mechanically stable, wear-resistant surface with excellent bonding properties to the underlying concrete.

Properties and Effects of the Concrete Hardener Powder

  • Increases resistance of hardened concrete against wear and impact.
  • Forms a durable, abrasion-resistant surface.
  • Improves concrete’s durability and longevity.
  • Creates a smooth, even, and polished final surface.
  • Provides resistance to oil and grease.

Physical and Chemical Properties of the Concrete Abrasion-Resistant Powder

  • State: Powder
  • Color: Various colors
  • Specific gravity: 1.9 gr/cm³
  • Compressive strength: 85 N/mm²
  • Abrasion resistance: 8 μ
  • Approximate yield: 5 kg per square meter

Consumption Rate of Concrete Hardener Powder

The consumption rate of floor hardener powder is between 4 to 6 kg. However, it is recommended that the consumption per square meter should not be less than 5 kg.

Application Method for Concrete Hardener Powder

To apply the floor abrasion-resistant hardener powder, the underlying concrete must meet the following specifications:

  • Maximum water-to-cement ratio: 55%
  • Minimum concrete grade: 300 kg/m³
  • Minimum water-to-cement ratio: 40%
  • Minimum concrete thickness: 8 cm
  • Concrete slump: 7 to 10 cm
  • Maximum air content: 3%
  • Minimum compressive strength of concrete: 30 N/mm²

For Old Concrete: For old concrete, a minimum 8 cm thick reinforced concrete layer should first be applied, and then dry-shake floor hardener powder should be applied as per the instructions provided under “Application on Fresh Concrete.”

For Fresh Concrete: First, the floor concrete must be poured according to standard practices, and when it reaches an appropriate set (when walking on the fresh concrete leaves a footprint without sinking), the floor hardener powder can be applied by dry-shake method. Spread the powder on the surface according to the required amount per square meter and immediately level the surface with a trowel. After the concrete achieves sufficient resistance, allowing one person to stand on it, the final smoothing of the surface should be done with a power trowel. After leveling, the surface should be cured with water spray for at least 48 hours.

Safety Precautions for Concrete Hardener Powder

  • This floor hardener powder is not toxic or harmful to the environment.
  • Wearing goggles and gloves is mandatory.
  • In case of skin contact, rinse immediately with water.
  • If ingested, seek medical attention immediately.

  • Duration: One year in original packaging.
  • Conditions: Keep away from cold, freezing, heat, and direct sunlight.
  • Optimal storage temperature: 10°C to 30°C

Packaging of Concrete Hardener Powder

  • 25 kg bag
